The Women's Empowerment Principles: A decade-defining movement

The year 2020 marked the 10th anniversary of the WEPs or Women's Empowerment Principles, which are emblematic of a global corporate network of nearly 5,000 signatories with a common mission to achieve gender equality in business. Developed by UN Women and UN Global Compact in 2010, the WEPs are seven guiding principles providing a roadmap for a more equal, inclusive and sustainable future.

Following the success of its first edition last year, the UN Women Asia-Pacific WEPs Awards in 2021 will once again recognize the achievements of businesses actively working to empower women. Because while the pandemic has put Asia-Pacific economies to the test, it also opens up the possibility of many more remarkable stories of business resilience, innovation and commitment to improve a range of gender issues.

The WEPs Awards is hosted by UN Women's WeEmpowerAsia programme with the European Union as donor and partner. To learn more about WeEmpowerAsia, visit http://weempowerasia.org.
